Mrs. Albright, B.A., is the Assistant Head of School/Head of Middle School and the Middle School English teacher. She joined the Peabody School faculty in 2000. Mrs. Albright earned a B.A. in English from Lynchburg College and has done graduate work at George Mason University, University of Cincinnati, and Michigan State University. She has over twenty years’ teaching experience, mostly at the high school level, including in International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs. A world traveler, her teaching assignments have taken her to international schools in Egypt, Philippines, Oman, and Pakistan. |

Miss Basile-Wood, B.A., teaches Peabody School's Kindergarten class. Ms. Basile-Wood graduated from the University of Virginia in 1989 with a degree in psychology/history and earned her teaching certificate in elementary education from Mary Baldwin College. Prior to joining the Peabody School faculty in 2001, Ms. Basile-Wood spent many years teaching young children in both preschool and pre-kindergarten classes. In addition, she served as a homebound instructor for the Charlottesville City Schools. Heavily involved in youth swimming, Ms. Basile-Wood is currently Meet Director and a member of the Board of Fry's Spring Swim Team. Miss Kim is also our Basketball Coach. |

Marie Beaurline
, B.S., M.A.T., teaches third grade math and science at Peabody School. Mrs. Beaurline received her B.S. from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and her M.A.T. from Mary Baldwin College. She also attended the University of Virginia and studied instructional technology at the graduate level. Mrs. Beaurline has been associated with Peabody School since 1997. She has taught kindergarten, first grade, and fifth grade at Peabody. Prior to joining the full-time faculty in 1999, Mrs. Beaurline coached one of the school’s Odyssey of the Mind teams. |

Katell Bourhis, B.A., M.A., is one of Peabody School’s French Teachers, and she is also an After School Progam Leader. Ms. Bourhis is a French citizen and teacher. Ms. Bourhis possesses the French equivalents of a bachelor’s degree in teaching methods and English language, and a master’s degree in language instruction. She has spent the past five years teaching students across a range of grade levels in Paris, and her work includes the successful implementation of projects combining language, cinema, legends, cooking, and art. Ms. Bourhis’ teaching has coordinated her students’ learning with museum projects at le Louvre and la Villette. A native speaker of French, she is fluent in English, intermediate in German, and a beginner in Chinese language. Ms. Bourhis is also a trained dancer (jazz, African dance, contemporary) who graduated from the Royal Academy of Dancing, the English ballet school. She is an art lover who also enjoys traveling, sports, trekking, rock climbing, and surfing.

Wendy Evans |

Wendy Evans, B.S., is Peabody School’s Head of Special Programs, guidance counselor, and resource/enrichment teacher. Prior to joining the faculty in 2000, Ms. Evans taught special education in both self-contained and resource programs in Virginia, Texas, and Florida. During her more than seventeen years’ experience as a teacher, she has worked with students in kindergarten through high school in both public and private schools, in clinical settings, and as a private teacher for students whose academic and/or emotional needs were best met in a home school environment. |

| Francie Furlong, B.A., M.A., is Peabody School's drama teacher. She works with each Lower School (K-5) class once per week on creative dramatics and performance, and she also offers a Middle School (6-8) drama elective every Wednesday. Francie is the Co-founder and Artistic Director of Charlottesville's Old Michie Theatre. She studied voice at The Juilliard School's Pre-College in New York at age 16. She received her B.A. in Theatre Arts at Brown University and earned a Master of Arts Degree in Drama at the University of Virginia. Francie has worked with the Looking Glass Theatre of Rhode Island; The Dorset Theatre Festival of Vermont; The Discovery Theatre of the Smithsonian Institution; Adventure Theatre of Glen Echo, Maryland; and the Community Children's Theatre of Charlottesville. She was awarded a 1990 scholarship from the Charlottesville chapter of the English-Speaking Union to study in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England, at the Shakespeare Institute, home of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Francie was also a recipient of the 1991-92 Virginia Commission for the Arts Artist-In-Education Grant at Clark Elementary School in Charlottesville. Francie is certified in Virginia to teach English and Drama Education. Many folks may know Francie from the excellent children's programs she offers at Old Michie Theatre (www.oldmichie.com). |

Lisa Gorsch, B.S., M.S., Ph.D., joined the Peabody School faculty in 2004 as the Middle School science teacher. She earned a B.A. in History from Princeton University in 1985 and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Dartmouth Medical School in 1995. Disenchanted by mediocre science teaching in early academic years, Mrs. Gorsch started intensive scientific training relatively late. Her irrepressible enthusiasm for science is matched by her profound desire to make science fun, interesting and comprehensible for secondary school students. Mrs. Gorsch's doctoral research on nucleocytoplasmic RNA transport was published in The Journal of Cell Biology. |

Julie Gottschalk, B.A., M.A.T., is the third grade language arts and social studies teacher at Peabody School. Ms. Gottschalk received her B.A. in Liberal Arts from the New School for Social Research in New York and her M.A.T. from Mary Baldwin College. In addition to teaching at Peabody School since 1996, she has served as a gifted resource teacher in the Albemarle County schools, as the drama teacher at Peabody School, and as an Odyssey of the Mind coach. |
Teresa Green |

Teresa Green, B.A., is Peabody's art teacher. Prior to joining the Peabody faculty, she spent several years as an instructor in Albemarle County’s After School Program, and she has enjoyed years of working with young children in a variety of educational settings. Mrs. Green is an artist and has a degree in studio art from Mary Baldwin College. Mrs. Green joined the Peabody staff in 2000, serving as an instructional assistant, After School Program Director, and substitute teacher, all prior to moving into the role of full time art teacher in 2004. |

Renee Henslee, B.A., is Assistant Head of Lower School and a first grade teacher. A graduate of Mary Baldwin College, Mrs. Henslee joined the Peabody staff in 2002. She has been a classroom teacher for first grade and second grade at Peabody, and she has also served the school as a member of the Enrichment/Resource Team and as the school's in-house substitute teacher. |

Dolly Joseph, B.A., M.T., Ph.D., is Peabody School’s Instructional Technology Teacher/Coordinator. Dr. Joseph completed her B.A. in Studio Art with an Art History minor at The University of Virginia. She earned her Master of Teaching degree in Elementary Education at U.Va. in 2000, and she recently finished her Ph.D. in Instructional Technology, also at U.Va.’s Curry School of Education. Dr. Joseph possesses a wide range of experience with educational software, Macromedia, image/design/multimedia applications, and Office tools, and her recent work with students has focused specifically on examining children’s experiences playing and critiquing educational computer games and working with students to design more compelling gaming programs. Additionally, Dr. Joseph’s original artwork has been recognized at numerous solo art shows in the region, and she is an avid gardener whose organic vegetables have recently won Grand Champion and Multiple Best in Show awards at the Albemarle County Fair. |
| Emily Kaliney, B.A., M.Ed., teaches second grade at Peabody School. Mrs. Kaliney holds a B.A. in English literature with a concentration in musicology from Northwestern University, and she earned her master's degree, also at Northwestern, in elementary education. Emily planned curriculum and taught second grade in Chicago Public Schools for three years, prior to teaching, planning curriculum, and differentiating instruction with her first graders in Massachusetts' Newton Public Schools. Emily, who recently moved to Charlottesville with her husband, holds a Virginia postgraduate teaching license with a K-6 endorsement. |
Tracy Landon, B.S., M.Ed., Ed.D., teaches fourth and fifth grades language arts and social studies at Peabody. Tracy holds a B.S. in special education from Virginia Commonwealth University, an M.Ed. from the College of William and Mary, and an Ed.D. in special education from the University of Virginia (with minors in instructional technology and evaluation). Prior to earning her doctorate, Tracy taught children in both private and public settings in central Virginia. Since then she has been providing guidance and support to preschool, elementary, and middle school teachers in a variety of capacities. Tracy worked for the Virginia Department of Education's Training and Technical Assistance Center at VCU, where her most recent classroom work focused on assisting English and social studies teachers with the differentiation of instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Tracy is an expert in the implementation of activty-based teaching strategies, and enjoys engaging students with creative instruction on a daily basis. |
Sharon McCord |

Sharon McCord, B.A., M.A.,teaches general music and is the band/chorus director at Peabody School. Prior to joining the Peabody faculty in 1999, Ms. McCord was on the faculty at the Queens School of Music. In addition to teaching at Peabody School, Ms. McCord performs in the pit orchestras of Charlottesville's New Lyric Theater, Live Arts, UVA Drama Department, and Heritage Repertory Theater. She directs the Chutzpah! Chorus at Congregation Beth Israel and maintains a music studio, teaching lessons in woodwinds, voice and guitar. |

Kate Macdonald, B.A., M.A.,is an After School Program Leader. Kate earned the equivalent of a master’s degree in Oriental Studies at the University of Oxford (U.K.), and she holds bachelor’s degrees in English and Religious Studies (double major) from the University of California-Berkeley, where she graduated with Honors (Phi Beta Kappa). In addition to her work leading weekly lectures on Classical Buddhism at Oxford, Kate has also served as an advisor and tutor to students across a range of ages, and she has successful experience as a childcare provider and academic coach. Kate has numerous academic achievements and honors to her credit for her work at Oxford and Berkeley. |

Maryline Meyer-Pollock, B.A., M.A., is a French teacher at Peabody School. A native of France, Ms. Meyer-Pollock earned both her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Communication and her Master’s Degree in Information and Communication at the University of Nancy, France. Prior to joining the Peabody School faculty in 2000, Ms. Meyer-Pollock taught middle and high school in Lorraine, France for five years and is certified by the French National Education System in modern literature. |

Kim Nash, B.S., is the physical education teacher for the Peabody School's students. A 2002 graduate of Longwood College with a major in physical education/health, Mrs. Nash joined the Peabody School faculty in the fall of 2002. Mrs. Nash offers Peabody students a wide range of physical education and sports opportunities throughout the school year, encouraging each student to achieve his or her personal best. A longtime resident of Albemarle County, she enjoys hiking and rock climbing. |

Carol Pollock, B.A., M.T., joined the faculty in 2003 as a member of the Peabody School Enrichment/Resource team. Ms. Pollock holds a BA in French
from Pitzer College, Claremont, CA and a Masters in Teaching from UVA. She t aught 10 years in
Albemarle County School System. Ms Pollock is the School Librarian and French
tutor. Ms. Pollock also team teaches 4th and 5th grades math and science with Mrs. Runkle. |

Pam Rini, B.A.,M.A., M.Ed., is the school’s Spanish teacher, and she is also an After School Program Leader. Mrs. Rini holds a B.A. in Secondary Education, with a major in Spanish and a minor in English, from Calvin College. She earned her Master's in Romance Linguistics with a Spanish Emphasis from the University of Michigan. As well, Mrs. Rini possesses an M.Ed. in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia. Mrs. Rini has twenty-two years of combined foreign language teaching and counseling experience, and she recently worked as a counselor at Louisa Middle School. She has taught elementary and intermediate Spanish at Longwood College and the University of Virginia, and she taught Latin in Charlottesville City Schools (Walker). Pam is married and has two sons. |

Demi Runkle, B.A., M.Ed., is the Assistant Head of School/Head of Lower School and the fourth and fifth grades math and science teacher at Peabody School. Ms. Runkle received her B.A. in theater arts from Mary Washington College and her M.Ed. in reading from the University of Virginia. She has completed extensive course work in gifted education, counseling, curriculum and instruction as well as in administration and supervision. In the 1980's, Ms. Runkle traveled extensively throughout the state to instruct teachers in how to teach reading-to-learn, writing-to-learn, and word study. During the mid-1990's, she administered a federal grant that helped teachers facilitate reading, writing, and spelling in their classrooms. Before coming to Peabody School, Ms. Runkle served as a Gifted Resource Teacher in the Albemarle County School system. She also taught grades one through five in her thirty-one years in public education. Ms. Runkle has been actively involved in local children’s theater and is a state Challenge Master for Destination Imagination. Ms. Runkle joined the Peabody faculty in 2000. |
| Elizabeth Schupp, B.A., M.A., teaches mathematics to Peabody School's sixth grade classes. Elizabeth received her B.A. in psychology from the University of Virginia, and she earned her M.A. in teaching from Mary Baldwin College. Elizabeth began teaching at Peabody School in the first year of the school's existence (1994), and for eleven years she taught a range of grade levels throughout the school before taking maternity leave to bring her new son into the world. Her daughter is a Peabody School graduate who now is in college. Elizabeth is a recipient of Peabody School's Distinguished Service Award, and her little pug dog, Jazzy, can occasionally be seen in the school's hallways. |

Sandy Thompson, B.S., is Peabody’s Middle School math teacher. Mrs. Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics (with a minor in secondary education) from James Madison University, and she participated in extensive master’s level coursework at Longwood University, where her focus was meeting the needs of students with learning difficulties. Mrs. Thompson possesses fourteen years of successful secondary level mathematics teaching experience. She was a mathematics specialist at New Dominion School, and at Tandem Friends School she was an Upper School mathematics teacher, Advanced Placement Coordinator, and 10th Grade Advisor. A whitewater paddling enthusiast and kayak instructor, Mrs. Thompson is married and has two sons. |

Anna White, B.A., M.T. teaches middle school social studies at Peabody. Anna attended Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, NC, received her B.A. in psychology from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) in 2001, and earned her Master of Teaching and Secondary Social Studies Education certification from the University of Virginia. Anna was a Teaching Associate at Charlottesville High School, completed her student teaching at Walton Middle School, and was a tutor at Buford Middle School and Chapel Hill's Sewall Elementary. Particular emphases of Anna's teaching and teacher training have been differentiation of instruction, experiential learning, primary source inquiry, webquests, and historical controversy and debate. Anna has won numerous leadership awards and honors over the years, and her interests have included intramural basketball and football, painting, foreign travel, and maintaining an active lifestyle. |

Traci Wynn, B.S., is an Enrichment/Resource/Diversity Support Specialist at Peabody School. She is a 1992 graduate of James Madison University with a bachelor's degree in psychology. Traci was an Instructional Assistant in Albemarle County Public Schools for three years, where she taught individual pupils as well as small groups of elementary level students in a variety of academic subjects, and where she was also responsible for the regular supervision of groups of students in the classroom and during other times throughout the school day. Like several other successful Peabody teachers, Traci has been a substitute teacher at Peabody School in recent years in both our Lower School and Middle School. |
