torchWelcome to Peabody School

Welcome to Peabody School.  A dynamic combination of students, faculty, staff, and parents makes Peabody an active and engaging environment for learning and individual growth. In classrooms throughout our vibrant learning community, students and teachers continue a dialogue centered on intellectual and personal enlightenment. Each day, Peabody students, staff, and parents work together to ensure that "education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire" (Yeats).  We are committed to providing each student an experience that nurtures and challenges personal understanding, that fosters intellectual curiosity, and that seeks and discovers the value of creative and independent thought.

Accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Peabody School offers a warm and welcoming environment for students, families, staff, alumni, and visitors.  We look forward to the opportunity to share with you the exemplary program that Peabody offers right here in the beautiful foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains.

Best regards,

Chris Roberson, Head of School

torchPhilosophy
Intellectually advanced students possess unique cognitive, social, and emotional needs that may require a learning environment designed specifically for their learning characteristics. The most effective educational experience for many highly able learners is in a full-time program with their intellectual peers. led by highly competent teachers who utilize curricular activities and instruction specially tailored to meet students' learning needs.
